Take Ethical Actions

Take Ethical Actions

ChaChing-BookAnyone that knows me well knows that I love reading.  And recently, I have read several books by Jeffrey Gitomer.  The Little Platinum book of Cha-Ching is one I recently finished.

In one of the principles listed, he says that you become known by the actions you take (so take ethical actions).

What is ethical and who decides?  Here’s a quick acid test:

1) Is this in the best long term interest of the customer?

2) Is this in the best long term interest of my company?

3) Is this in the best long term interest of my career?

4) If I were a probable purchaser, would I buy?

5) Is it something that would make my mother proud? [I ask this on a very regular basis]

5.5) Am I telling the truth [Gitomer uses the .5 as the ‘glue that holds everything else together]

If your presentation or approach does not pass ALL of these, you need to change it immediately!
