Marketo | How to Use the Import Program Function

Let’s say you have a fairly new Marketo instance or an instance that doesn’t have everything built out.

You’re new.

You have limited resources like most Marketing Operations teams.

What can you do?

You can hire a Marketo consultant. If you have the funds to do it, it’s always a good idea. Consultants can clean up your instance, help you create better structure and reporting, and allow you to grow as a MOps professional.

But what if you don’t have the funds?

You can use Marketo’s Import Program function and bring in already created programs. This will allow you to build out your instance faster and with best practices built in.

So how do you do it?

Go to Marketing Activities and then RIGHT CLICK. Choose Import Program.

You have a list of possible programs.

This will bring up the Import Program dialog box. This is where you can pick which program you want to import.

You can choose many different types of programs from simple email programs to engagement/nurture programs to operational programs. There are even quite a few operational programs to choose. In the example below, I chose a scoring program.

Not sure what each one does? The description gives you more details. You can also import the program and review it in your instance (since it’s not activated at import). If it isn’t what you wanted, it’s easy to delete.

Go check it out in your Marketo instance! See if there’s anything that you need or that would help you and your team!
